The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) is tomorrow expected to announce 70 new constituencies following the conclusion of the delimitation exercise.
This development will increase the number of constituencies from 156 to 226.
ECZ Corporate Affairs Manager Patricia Luhanga said the delimitation process began in February this year after the enactment of constitutional changes. She explained that the Commission held extensive consultations across all 116 districts.
GEARS Initiative Chairperson Lackson Lungu expressed optimism that the process will reflect fairness and adhere to constitutional guidelines.
Meanwhile, Christian Churches Monitoring Group Program Director Peter Mwanangombe commended the ECZ for following procedures throughout the delimitation exercise.
