Germany Pledges €81.5m to Zambia

Germany has committed 81.5 million euros to Zambia for bilateral technical and financial cooperation covering the 2026–2027 period.

The agreement was signed in Berlin following Zambia–Germany Government-to-Government Development Cooperation negotiations.

Ministry of Finance and National Planning Permanent Secretary for Economic Management and Finance MULELE MULELE signed on behalf of Zambia, while NIELS ANNEN, State Secretary at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, signed for Germany.

The support package includes 34 million euros for financial cooperation projects and 46.5 million euros for technical cooperation initiatives.

The programme will focus on sectors such as water, good governance, and food and nutrition security.

Speaking before the signing ceremony, Mr. MULELE called on the German private sector to increase investment in Zambia through capital, technology and innovation to support economic growth.

He said Zambia remains an attractive investment destination with opportunities across several sectors of the economy.

And Mr. ANNEN said the talks reflected a strong foundation of cooperation between the two countries.

This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by First Secretary for Press at the Zambian Embassy in Germany LUBINDA KASHEWE.
