The United Nations Population Fund-UNPFA has handed over digital equipment to the Ministry of Health Registry Unit in Lusaka to enable faster retrieval of critical documents.
Speaking after receiving the equipment, Health Minister, Dr. Alex Katakwe said the intervention is part of measures the Ministry is actively driving and is anchored in the National Digital Health Strategy 2022 – 2026 .
Dr Katakwe stressed that the digital Health Strategy provides a comprehensive roadmap for harnessing technology to enhance the delivery of services to every Zambian.
And Dr Katakwe has thanked UNFPA for its support with essential medicines that has resulted in the country’s average availability of essential medicines at health facilities to rise to over 80 percent, up from a baseline of 46 percent in 2021.
Meanwhile United National Population Fund Country Representative Seth Brockman said his organisation remains committed to support the Government not only to commodity systems and health financing, but also to strengthen its data digital system.
