President HICHILEMA Orders Crackdown on Disorder

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has warned that government will not tolerate electoral violence and disorder following incidents in which individuals allegedly attempted to block the lawful filing of nominations.

In a statement issued today, President HICHILEMA said scenes circulating on social and other media showing attempts to disrupt the nomination process are unacceptable, undemocratic, and a breach of the rule of law.

The Head of State said he expects law enforcement agencies to act swiftly and professionally in arresting all those responsible, regardless of their political affiliation or social standing.

President HICHILEMA said Zambia is governed by laws, not intimidation, violence, or mob action.

He warned that anyone seeking to challenge the government’s efforts to maintain law and order will face firm and decisive action from the State.

The President added that all forms of electoral violence and disorder will be dealt with according to the law.
