The Civil Service Commission has begun implementing the Presidential directive to recruit volunteer health workers into the civil service.
Commission Chairperson CHOOLWE BEYANI says the collection of application documents has been completed in the provinces where President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA issued the initial directive.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today, Dr. BEYANI said the applications are now being validated to ensure they meet the requirements of the directive.
He said the recruitment is a nationwide exercise attracting significant public interest and will be conducted as quickly as possible.
Dr. BEYANI said the Commission will soon begin collecting applications from the remaining provinces where the directive has been issued to ensure all eligible volunteers are captured.
Meanwhile, Dr. BEYANI said the deadline for applications for the recruitment of 2,600 health workers remains Friday, August 7, 2026, and will not be extended.
