The Zambia Air Force –ZAF- and the National Pension Scheme Authority –NAPSA- have signed a 150-million-kwacha contract for the construction of a 12-kilometre pipeline under a Bulk Water Supply Project in Lusaka.
The project is expected to benefit more than 25,000 residents in the Twin Palm and Ibex areas.
Under the agreement, ZAF and NAPSA will provide funding, while the Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company will construct and operate the pipeline over an 18-month period.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ministry of Defence Permanent Secretary MAAMBO HAAMAUNDU said the project is part of Government’s efforts to improve access to essential services.
Mr. HAAMAUNDU said the project is also in line with the Government’s broader development agenda of ensuring that citizens have access to basic services.
ZAF Commander Lieutenant General OSCAR NYONI said Government support is enabling the Air Force to improve infrastructure and provide better facilities for its personnel.
Meanwhile, NAPSA Acting Director General JOSHUA MALIPENGA said the project will benefit residents of Queensland Park, ZAF Twin Palm, Da Tong and other areas in Twin Palm and Ibex Hill.
And Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company Managing Director JILLY CHIYOMBWE said the company will deliver the project with quality, professionalism and transparency.
