President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has urged voters to reject a return to cadreism by voting for the UPND in Thursday’s General Election.
President HICHILEMA says Zambians should safeguard peace, unity and national development as they head to the polls.
Addressing thousands of people at KUKU Grounds in Lusaka’s Chawama Constituency, President HICHILEMA said the Tonse Alliance comprises people who previously served in the former Patriotic Front –PF- administration.
President HICHILEMA also assured voters that load-shedding will not return, citing Government’s investment in solar energy across the country.
He urged voters not to be misled by opposition claims that load-shedding will return after the August General Election.
President HICHILEMA said investment in alternative energy sources will help ensure a stable and reliable power supply.
President HICHILEMA also announced that Government will employ more teachers and nurses this year, in addition to those already recruited.
He further announced the employment of volunteer teachers and nurses in Kabwata and Chawama constituencies.
President HICHILEMA directed that all eligible residents in Kabwata and Chawama be enrolled on the Social Cash Transfer Programme.
He also pledged to construct more schools in various parts of Kabwata and Chawama to meet the growing demand for learning facilities.
President HICHILEMA further promised to construct additional health facilities to improve access to quality healthcare services.
Meanwhile, UPND Lusaka Province Chairperson OBVIOUS MWALITITA said the people of Lusaka are ready to support the UPND in Thursday’s election.
UPND Kabwata Parliamentary Candidate ANDREW TAYENGWA urged residents to give President HICHILEMA 90 per cent of the vote.
UPND Chawama Parliamentary Candidate ABEL NG’ANDU called on residents to vote for the UPND at all levels, saying this will enable the party to deliver more development to the area.
UPND Lusaka Mayoral Candidate CHITAMBALA MWEWA urged voters to support President HICHILEMA on Thursday to safeguard peace and unity in the country.
Meanwhile, UPND Alliance Member MILES SAMPA said all provinces have resolved to rally behind President HICHILEMA in Thursday’s election.
New Congress Party President PETER CHANDA said there is no need for a change of government, arguing that President HICHILEMA and the UPND are delivering on their development agenda.
