Dr. Sydney Kaweme of the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) has won the Bahati Constituency parliamentary seat in Mansa District.
Dr. Kaweme polled 12,284 votes, defeating Leevan Chibombwe of the UPND, who came second with 2,928 votes. Independent candidate Honest Kalumba followed closely with 2,848 votes.
Bahati Constituency Returning Officer George Nsokolo declared Dr. Kaweme duly elected at around 02:40 hours.
He disclosed that a total of 21,833 ballots were cast, with 686 rejected.
Speaking after his victory, Dr. Kaweme said he stands ready to lobby for development to benefit all communities in Bahati Constituency.
