Justine Mutale of the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) has won the Kasama North parliamentary seat, polling 9,285 votes.
He defeated UPND’s Sibongile Mwamba, who secured 3,554 votes.
In third place was Isidore Tetamashimba of the Restoration Party with 3,257 votes, followed by Lawrence Nkumbula of Citizens First with 1,004 votes.
UPPZ candidate Erick Chilumba polled 496 votes, while Stanley Musonda of the Leadership Movement trailed with 345 votes.
Returning Officer Frazer Sinyangwe declared Mr. Mutale duly elected at about 12:15 hours.
The newly created Kasama North Constituency has 35,798 registered voters. Out of 18,843 ballots cast, 864 were rejected.
