Independent candidate Kawina Poho has won the Solwezi Central parliamentary seat in the 2026 General Elections.
Mr. Poho polled 12,225 votes, defeating his closest rival, UPND candidate Bruce Kanema, who garnered 11,521 votes.
Andrew Lukamata of the NRPUP came third with 2,957 votes, while Independent David Likashi finished fourth with 1,864 votes. Another independent, Rodgers Kavula, trailed with 512 votes.
Returning Officer Henry Mulemena declared Mr. Poho duly elected at 11:10 hours this morning.
Speaking after his declaration, Mr. Poho pledged to implement his campaign promises and thanked the electorate for their confidence.
He assured residents that he will serve all constituents regardless of political affiliation and called on his opponents and their supporters to accept the outcome and work together for development in Solwezi Central.
