BOWMAN LUSAMBO’s Chamba Valley Properties Forfeited

By Memory Bbuku

Lusaka Chief Resident Magistrate, DAVIS CHIBWILI, has ordered the forfeiture to the state of former Lusaka Province Minister BOWMAN LUSAMBO’s properties in Chamba Valley.

Magistrate CHIBWILI has also directed Mr. LUSAMBO to pay the state 5.2 million kwacha for the six unfinished flats, which were constructed on leased land.

This follows the court’s finding that the land on which the flats were built belongs to MUKUKA MUNKONGE, after the expiry of Mr. LUSAMBO’s lease agreement.

Magistrate CHIBWILI agreed with Mr. MUNKONGE’s lawyers that although the houses were tainted, they were erected on land belonging to the interested party.

The court has also dismissed Mr. LUSAMBO’s application to halt proceedings in the Subordinate Court.

The respondent had argued that he had appealed his conviction in the Lusaka High Court and that the process should be paused.

In this matter, the state sought forfeiture of the property linked to Mr. LUSAMBO, who was convicted and sentenced to three years’ imprisonment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Court in August 2025.

Meanwhile, the court has granted Mr. LUSAMBO bail of 500,000 kwacha in his own recognisance in the case where he was convicted of possessing property believed to be proceeds of crime.

Magistrate CHIBWILI has further ordered the former Lusaka province Minister to present three working sureties of the same amount.
