Government says it has made progress in the development of the National Library Policy.
Education Minister DOUGLAS SYAKALIMA says the national document will soon be unveiled to stakeholders before submitting it to Cabinet.
Mr. SYAKALIMA said this in a speech read on his behalf by the Ministry of Education, Permanent Secretary for Education Services, JOEL KAMOKO at the national library week symposium.
He said the document will be subjected to a validation process before presenting it to Cabinet.
Speaking at the same event, Library Information Association of Zambia (LIAZ) President, MUTINTA NABUYANDA said there is a need to embrace technology in libraries.
And Zambia Library Services, Assistant Director SHARON LIATO said libraries are beacons of enlightenment and progress in the communities.
