1,000 Health centres get Internet access

Smart Zambia Institute has completed the connection of internet to ONE thousand health facilities countrywide.
Smart Zambia National Coordinator PERCY CHINYAMA says the target is to provide Internet to all 3,400 health facilities by end of 2025.
Mr. CHINYAMA says the roll out of Internet in health facilities will help in the implementation of smart care.
Speaking during a meeting for Senior Information and Communication Technology -ICT officers from various Ministries, Mr. CHINYAMA revealed that a Systems Architecture for the whole government infrastructure is being developed.
He said the infrastructure will unify government operations and digitise all services to promote transparency.
Mr. CHINYAMA also revealed that all 156 Constituencies and all Post Offices countrywide are fully connected through Starlink.
And Ministry of Health Director Information and Communication Technology ANDREW KASHOKA said the connection of health facilities is progressing well.
Mr. KASHOKA said connecting Internet will ensure that all IT infrastructure can be utilised without challenges.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Justice Director Information and Communication Technology SECHWAYO NZIMA said the implementation of the Contracts Management Systems has speeded up the clearance of contracts for Constituency Development Fund –CDF- projects.
Mr. NZIMA said contracts are now being approved by the Attorney General online without council officials travelling to Lusaka to seek physical approvals.
