ECZ dismisses allegations that its conducting secret voter registration

The Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- has dismissed allegations that it is conducting secret voter registration.

ECZ Chief Electoral Officer, BROWN KASARO says the claims are false, malicious and a misrepresentation of the transparent process in which the Continuous Registration of Voters – CRV – exercise is being conducted.

Mr KASARO says the Commission has been made aware of a statement attributed to the Former President, EDGAR LUNGU, in which he alleges that the Commission is conducting secret voter registration.

He says the commission has always adhered to the principles of transparency and inclusivity in all its electoral activities.

Mr KASARO told ZNBC News in a statement that the launch of CRV activities in the districts was made public and the events were well-attended by various stakeholders, including political parties.
