Eighteen small-scale farmers in Livingstone District have so far been issued Sustainable Agriculture Financing Facility (SAFF) loans under the crops component.
Livingstone District Cooperative Union Chairperson Rwinnick Mapanza has told ZNBC News that this is out of the forty farmers who applied for the loan facility in the district.
Mr. Mapanza says the loans made available to the farmers last month range from twenty thousand Kwacha to one hundred and fifty thousand Kwacha.
He has called on the beneficiaries to ensure that they pay back the loan within the stipulated time to allow more farmers to benefit from the program.
Mr. Mapanza has also urged the unsuccessful applicants to take advantage of the ongoing program and apply for other components such as irrigation.
Meanwhile, one of the beneficiaries, Philliot Nyanga, has thanked the government for introducing the program.
