18 months Jail time for hitting CJ’s official vehicle

PHILEMON DYAMIN, an Examination Officer at Zambia Revenue Authority, who hit into Chief Justice MUMBA MALILA’s official vehicle has been sentenced to 18 months simple imprisonment
Mr DYAMIN, 30, of Lilayi was charged with dangerous driving.
The Fast Track Court also ordered Mr. DYAMIN to pay 30 thousand Kwacha before the start of November 2024, for failing to deliver registration documents of his vehicle in order to effect change of ownership of the vehicle.
This is in a matter where Mr. DYAMAN is charged with two counts of dangerous driving and failing to change ownership of his vehicle.
Mr DYAMIN pleaded guilty to dangerously driving his BMW which was involved in an accident with Chief Justice MUMBA MALILA’s official car on the 30th of August 2024.
Delivering the sentence at the Fast Track Court today, Magistrate MOFFAT PHIRI took into consideration the fact that Mr DYAMIN is a first offender.
