18-year-old pupil dies while running to class

An 18-year-old pupil at Maamba High School in Sinazongwe District has died after falling while running to class from his dormitory.
According to a statement by Southern Province Deputy Commanding Officer, MOONO NAMALONGO, the incident occurred in the morning on January 21 at 06:45 hours.
PARDON JALABANI, a Grade 12 pupil from Nyanga village, slipped and fell face-first in the rain as he approached his classroom.
His classmate, ASTON MIYANDA, tried to resuscitate him but failed.
School management was alerted and the matter was reported to Maamba Police Station.
The body was later deposited to the Maamba Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
The cause of death is under investigation.
