Police arrest man over a Mukula deal gone wrong
Police in Lusaka have arrested and charged a 40-year-old Lebanese-Zambian national for obtaining money by false pretense amounting to over 799,000 United States dollars.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga says Ali Hussein Yehia was arrested on Monday after police received a report of obtaining money by false pretenses on May 10, 2024.
Mr. Hamoonga says the report was filed by 36-year-old Simusokwe Kaziya on behalf of Jim Zhao.
In a statement issued to ZNBC News, Mr. Hamoonga said the report indicated that known persons obtained the money under the pretext of facilitating the purchase of containers of Mukula timber from ZAFFICO, when in fact no such arrangement existed.
