20,315 farmers get inputs using E-voucher in Kasama
NAIS-Kasama District Agriculture Coordinator (DACO) Francis Mutale has disclosed that the district has concluded the distribution of farming inputs to 20,315 farmers for this season through the E-voucher system.
Mr. Mutale says the district has also documented the challenges farmers faced, such as poor infrastructure development and phone number validation, which will be addressed before the next season.
NAIS reports that Mr. Mutale says the district is expected to produce over 20,000 hectares of maize as farmers collected their inputs under FISP on time.
Kasama District Agricultural Committee (DAC) Chairperson Robert Kabwe says the 2024-2025 FISP implementation was smoothly conducted as all beneficiaries followed the stipulated guidelines provided by the government through the Ministry of Agriculture.
Mr. Kabwe also applauded the government for successfully providing farming inputs on time to improve food and nutrition security.
Meanwhile, Kasama District Senior Agricultural Officer John Chilundika has encouraged farmers to practice integrated pest and disease management to control Fall armyworm attacks.
Mr. Chilundika said the district has also received over 700 liters of Fall armyworm chemicals, which have been distributed to all parts of the district through camp officers.
