The Chipata High Court has sentenced a 28-year-old man of Nyimba District to life imprisonment for taking the life a game scout while poaching at Nyamvu Game Ranch.
Lusaka Judge LASTONE MWANABO, who was sitting in Chipata jailed VINCENT CHISOKWE after convicting him of murder.
CHISOKWE was charged with the murder of WANGA KACHISA and ISAAC PHIRI who were both game scouts at Nyamvu Game ranch in 2021.
Judge MWANABO acquitted CHISOKWE in the first count after the state, which called four witnesses, failed to prove a case against him.
He however convicted him in the second count.
Judge MWANABO stated that there were no extenuating circumstances in the matter and handed CHISOKWE a life sentence.
During trial, one of the game scouts, ALLAN NGULUBE said he was part of the game scouts that were pursuing poachers on the fateful day.
Mr. NGULUBE said Mr. PHIRI was shot on the forehead while Mr. KACHISA was shot in the chest.
