29 year old on Police wanted list takes his life

A 29-year-old man has taken his own life in Nyimba, Eastern province, after he discovered that police were looking for him in connection with livestock theft.

JOSEPH TEMBO, of Mchimanzi Schemes in Chief NDAKE’s area, is believed to have taken a suspected poisonous substance yesterday, before 10:30 hours and 11:40 hours.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, ROBERSTON MWEEMBA says the body of TEMBO was found about 400 metres from Great East Road, with an empty bottle of the substance.

Mr MWEEMBA has explained that police had earlier received a report from the deceased’s grandfather that he had stolen an oxen last Friday, April 11, which he later sold.

He has added that TEMBO was later informed that police were looking for him, and consequently decide to end his life.
