
30 Illegal Immigrants Arrested,Most of them Shop Owners

The Department of Immigration has apprehended 30 suspected illegal immigrants in routine operation in Lusaka.
Department of Immigration Public Relations Officer, Namati Nshinka says one of the individuals who claimed to be Zambian was apprehended for threatening officers with a machete while they were conducting the operation.
Mr. Nshinka says all the apprehended individuals were found to be undocumented and operating grocery shops without the necessary immigration permits.
He says the suspected illegal immigrants are currently detained awaiting prosecution and further immigration formalities.
Meanwhile, Mr. Nshinka says 149 illegal immigrants were removed from Zambia after the mass removal operations conducted between 22nd and 23rd March, this year in Lusaka, Kabwe and Kitwe.
