Thirty five pupils out of the 109 pupils that registered for the 2024 Grade Seven examinations at Musele Primary School in Kalumbila District have absconded the examination.
The pupils are alleged to have accompanied their parents to prepare land for farming following the onset of the rainy season.
School Headteacher RUTH MASEKA says she is concerned with the huge number of the absenteeism that has been recorded at the school.
She told ZNBC news in Kalumbila District, that the school has engaged the community to ensure that pupils retain and sit for the examination.
And Kalumbila District Commissioner BRENDA SANKISA has called on parents to return the pupils that are engaging in agricultural activities and allow them to sit for examinations.
Ms. SANKISA says government introduced free education to keep pupils in school adding that such vices are retrogressive to the country’s development.
