43 Youths detained for planned illegal Protest at Parliament
Police in Lusaka have detained 43 people, all males, aged between 17 and 31 of Chawama in Lusaka, on suspicion that they were being ferried to parliament area to protest.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer DANNY MWALE says police officers intercepted a Rosa bus that was carrying 45 passengers and driven by 32-year TAKKY CHANGUKE of Chawama compound.
Mr MWALE says Police investigations revealed that the suspects were being driven to Parliament by the Socialist Party.
Mr MWALE has told ZNBC News that among the suspects are two juveniles aged 14 and 16 who have since been severely warned and released.
And Mr MWALE says further investigations indicate that one of the suspects, BORNWELL MAAMBO 26, alleged to be a Socialist Party youth mobiliser, went round Chawama to mobilise the youths.
Meanwhile, the driver of the bus is yet to be charged for driving a motor vehicle with expired fitness, road tax and identity certificates.
