
50 Chiefs’ Palaces Ready by June

Construction of 50 Chiefs’ palaces will be completed and commissioned by the end of the second quarter of this year.
And Northwestern Province is leading with 10 Palaces almost complete out of the 12 under construction.
Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary, NICHOLAS PHIRI says the Ministry has set a target of constructing 110 new palaces for traditional leaders across the country.
He says of these, 80 palaces are being built by the Zambia Correctional Service, while 20 are being constructed by the private sector.
Mr. PHIRI also disclosed that Government plans to upgrade 286 existing Chiefs’ palaces, so that they meet new infrastructure standards.
