5,000 Lundazi Residents get Cash of Work
More than 5,000 people in Lundazi District have benefiting from the Cash For Work Programme every month since the programme started in August last year.
Lundazi Town Council Director Planning, FUTURE CHIBESA says the Local Authority has been receiving about 3.5 million Kwacha per month to manage the Programme.
Mr. CHIBESA told ZNBC News that the programme has enabled vulnerable households to purchase essential goods.
And one of the beneficiaries, CLEMENTINA SAKALA, a mother of four from Lundazi’s William B Compound, said the money has enabled her to start a business which is now helping her pay rentals and buy food for her family.
And another beneficiary, PEACEWELL BANDA, said the money from the project has helped him recover from the economic hardship caused by the drought.
