64,000 beneficiaries on cash transfer programs in Lusaka

Government has paid over 64,000 Social Cash Transfer and Drought Emergency Cash Transfer beneficiaries in Lusaka District.
Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Director Social Welfare NELSON NYANGU says this represents about 80-percent of the about 80,000 beneficiaries.
Mr. NYANGU says about 57,000 are on Drought Emergency Cash Transfer while about 27,000 are on the Social Cash Transfer Programme.
Speaking in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka today, Mr. NYANGU said this is the largest number of beneficiaries in Lusaka District.
He says about 40 million Kwacha has been set aside for the disbursement exercise which was being done at 33 payment points across the City.
He says the exercise which started on Thursday, July 18,2024 ends today.
Mr NYANGU says those who will not be paid today will be covered during a mop up payment exercise which will be done at the District Office.
