7 Pakistani nationals Arrested for Illegal entry into the country
The Luangwa Immigration Office has apprehended Seven Pakistani nationals for illegal entry into the country.
Immigration Public Relations Officer NAMATI NSHINKA says the individuals were intercepted on Friday around 16:30 hours at the Luangwa Bridge.
Mr NSHINKA says the seven men, aged between 19 and 39, were observed walking towards the Luangwa Bridge checkpoint when they were stopped by the officers.
Upon inspection, four of the individuals were found to possess passports which did not have entry endorsement stamps, indicating that they had not gone through the proper immigration process at any official port of entry.
He says the remaining three individuals, however, did not have any travel documents.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the group had entered Zambia from Malawi and was headed to Lusaka.
Mr NSHINKA says it is believed that they were likely transported by an unknown individual or group, who, for reasons yet to be established, abandoned them along their journey.
The Pakistani nationals are currently detained by the Luangwa Immigration Office and will soon be transferred to Lusaka for further investigations.
