7 political parties interested in Pambashe by-election

Over seven political parties have expressed interest in participating in the forthcoming nominations for the Pambashe by-election, scheduled to take place on January 7, 2025.

The parties include the United Party for National Development (UPND), Citizens First, Socialist Party, National Citizens’ Party (NCP), Democratic Union, and FDD.

Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Commissioner McDonald Chipenzi has urged all aspiring candidates to follow the laid-down procedures and guidelines, as well as lawful instructions, in accordance with the legal provisions for filing nominations.

Mr. Chipenzi warned that the ECZ will not tolerate disorderly and lawless conduct during the nominations, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and order throughout the process.

Mr. Chipenzi also cautioned political players to desist from altering words or publicizing information without facts about the by-election, as this has the potential to disrupt or bring disorder to the electoral process.
