70 Chiefs expected for Lwanza Traditional Ceremony
Twenty out of the seventy chiefs invited for the 2024 Lwanza Traditional Ceremony have confirmed that they will attend the ceremony slated for 20 to 22 September.
Lwanza Traditional Ceremony Organising Committee Publicity Chairperson, MIKE MUNKOMBWE has told ZNBC News that the organizing team is hopeful all the invited traditional leaders will be in attendance.
He says this year’s ceremony will offer the guests a unique experience through game viewing, visit to the echoing stone and the mysterious tree that changes fruits every year.
Lwanza Traditional Ceremony usually takes place in the second week of August every year, during which, the Lundwe people of Chief HAMUSONDE, celebrate their animal wealth and pay homage to their ancestral spirits, believed to be living in the mysterious magical man-made Lwanza River.
This year’s ceremony, which was slated for the 9th to 11th August, was postponed as the dates coincided with the Ukusefya pa Ng’wena Traditional Ceremony of the Bemba people.
