By Patricia Banda
Over 800 members of the Socialist Party and the Patriotic Front have defected to the UPND in Sioma District in Western Province.
The defectors were welcomed by UPND Chairperson for Western Province, Kapelwa Mbangweta, who is also the Provincial Minister.
This was during the mobilisation of the party in the area aimed at getting new members to join the party in Lipeneno, Mulemba, and Liwandamo wards.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors from the three wards, former ward Chairperson for Mutomena ward, Mooka Wamunyima, and Ngenda Sishekako, the former Ward Secretary, explained that the defectors have been attracted by the good policies of the UPND.
Mr. Sishekako and Mr. Wamunyima say they are happy with the cash-for-work, emergency cash transfer, and free education among the good policies introduced by the UPND government.
This is contained in a statement made available to ZNBC News in Lusaka by UPND Western Province member, Spuki Mulemwa.
