HH calls for streamlining the G-20 debt restructuring framework
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has called on the international community to support Africa’s efforts by streamlining the G-20 debt restructuring framework.
And President HICHILEMA says the debt restructuring should be viewed NOT as a financial necessity but a moral imperative.
The President says Zambia’s process took two and a half years, and hopes that other countries do not face prolonged hardships.
The President also called for innovative financing solutions to bridge the significant SDGs financing gap.
President HICHILEMA says the financing gap is estimated at 2.5 to 4 trillion dollars annually and a pressing 1.3 trillion needed annually for Africa alone.
President HICHILEMA said this in a virtually address at a side event on sustainable financing for the future Generations at the 2024 Summit of the Future in New York, USA.
And President HICHILEMA has called for the Global financial Architecture to address the systemic flaws that perpetuate inequality.
