Zambia to be regional electricity hub – Chinese Envoy

Chinese Ambassador to Zambia, HAN JING has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to partnering with Zambia to overcome its energy challenges.
Speaking at the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, Mr. HAN pledged to help Zambia to develop strategic power cooperation plans.
He said the plans aim to eliminate the current load-shedding and transform Zambia into a regional electricity hub.
Meanwhile, President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA said there is need for strong foundations, built on the legacy of the two countries’ founding fathers.
In a speech read on his behalf by Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO, President HICHILEMA said collaborations, including the TAZARA railway project unlock the full potential of the partnership with China.
And Veteran Politician and Former Foreign Affairs Minister VERNON MWAAGA praised China’s work ethic, citing it as an exemplary model for other nations.
Speaking at the same event, Chinese Committee Leader in Zambia, LI WEIXIANG commended Zambia’s stable political environment.
