Govt. unveils K217 billion National Budget

Government has proposed to spend K217 billion in the 2025 financial year.
Speaking when he unveiled the 2025 National Budget in the National Assembly, Finance and national Planning Minister SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE said that this represents 26 percent of the GDP.
Dr. MUSOKOTWANE said that out of the total amount in the budget, about 174 billion Kwacha will be financed by domestic revenues, while 8.2 billion Kwacha will be grants from Cooperating Partners.
He said the balance of 34.7 billion Kwacha will be financed through borrowing.
The Finance Minister said that borrowing will be 15.4 billion Kwacha while 19.4 billion Kwacha will come from external sources.
Dr. MUSOKOTWANE said 73.8 billion Kwacha will be used for General public services, with about 37 billion Kwacha to be used for domestic debt servicing.
He said K16.7 billion will be used for external debt payment and 317 million Kwacha for continuous voter registration.
Dr. MUSOKOTWANE further proposed to spend about five billion Kwacha on outstanding Government bills to increase liquidity in the economy.
He said about 48 billion Kwacha will be used to stimulate economic activity and improve livelihoods.
