HH to handover COMESA chairmanship

Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa -COMESA- says the 23rd COMESA Summit of Heads of State and Government will prioritize regional integration and economic growth.
COMESA Secretary General, CHILESHE KAPWEPWE says the Summit set for 31st October 2024 in Bujumbura, Burundi, will focus on developing regional value chains in agriculture, mining, and tourism.
Speaking during the Pre-Summit Briefing to Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives in Lusaka, Ms. KAPWEPWE says the Summit will also see the transfer of the Chairmanship from President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA to President EVARISTE NDAYISHIMIYE of Burundi.
Ms. KAPWEPWE says the event will also mark the establishment of a new Bureau of the Authority, with Burundi as Chair, Eswatini as Vice Chair, and Zambia as Rapporteur.
