Information and Media Permanent Secretary, THABO KAWANA has advised radio and television stations to operate within the parameters of their broadcasting licenses.
Mr. KAWANA, who was recently on an inspection tour of radio stations in Livingstone and Kazungula district, said it is unfortunate that some media houses are operating outside the parameters of their licenses, and being used to propagate hatred, tribalism and political propaganda.
He has however praised Radio Maria Mosi-Oa-Tunya for being a radio of excellence for the last twenty years.
Mr. KAWANA said the radio station’s professional conduct is worth emulating.
He has also commended Power FM, in Livingstone, for adhering to the conditions of its broadcasting license.
Meanwhile, Radio Maria Mosi-Oa-Tunya Priest Director, Father IMASIKU NGALAMA, said the station looks forward to a time when solar energy equipment will be affordable to buy and install.
And Power FM Station Manager, ABIGAIL NG’ANDWE, said the station is also looking forward to the actualisation of the incentives and innovations, by the government, to cushion media houses from the effects of load shedding.
