Rainfall activities expected in northern parts of Zambia

The Zambia Meteorological Department says rainfall activities are expected to occur in most parts of Northwestern Province including the northern parts of Luapula, and Northern provinces from today September 30 to October 2, 2024.
Zambia Meteorological Department Senior Meteorologist, PEGGY THOLE says rainfall has been observed in the northern parts of the country.
Ms. THOLE has advised farmers in areas where rainfall is expected, to secure harvested crops to avoid damage.
AND the Meteorological Department says the high temperatures being experienced in most parts of Zambia are expected to last until Wednesday October 2, 2024.
Very hot temperatures exceeding 38 degrees Celsius have been recorded in some parts of the country with valley areas reaching as high as 41.
Ms. THOLE has advised the public to avoid direct sun rays and stay hydrated by taking enough fluids during this period when the country is experiencing hot temperatures.
Meanwhile Ms. THOLE says a strong high pressure system over the south eastern coast of South Africa will start inducing strong, cool and moist airflow over Zambia from October 3, 2024.
She says this will result in partly cloudy weather conditions, increase in winds, and a temporary reduction in temperature in most parts of the country; with isolated rainfall in some parts of Eastern, Muchinga and the eastern parts of Central Province.
The MET Department says users of water transport and fishers are advised to take precautionary measures to avoid accidents due to windy weather conditions expected from October, 3rd to 5th, 2024.
Ms. THOLE has further advised the general public to avoid open areas due to dusty conditions expected from October, 3rd to 5th 2024.
