Lumwana Mine to compensate displaced people

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says Barrick Lumwana Management has agreed to compensate everyone who has been displaced to pave the way for expansion of its mining activities.
President HICHILEMA says all outstanding issues concerning the mine and the residents will be sorted out soon.
Speaking at a rally at Manyama Primary school in Lumwana in North Western Province, President HICHILEMA urged youths to enroll in skills training so that they can be equipped with the necessary skills that can help them with employment opportunities.
He also said major roads in various districts in North Western Province will be worked on.
The President has also directed that all levies paid to Solwezi Council from Lumwana and Kalumbila should go to their respective councils.
Mr HICHILEMA also assured the people of North Western Province that the MoU on the Lobito Corridor will be signed on October 15, 2024 in Angola.
