Govt to spend K1.5m in compensation for structures to be demolished in Kanyama

The Ministry of Local Government has set aside over 1.5 million Kwacha to compensate people whose structures will be demolished to pave the way for drainage construction works in Kanyama Compound.
Eleven structures have been identified for demolition to pave the way for drainage construction works under the upgrading of Kanyama Compound.
And, Local Government Permanent Secretary NICHOLAS PHIRI says his ministry has already started preparing compensation funds for the affected people.
The Permanent Secretary said this when he met affected people in Lusaka’s Kanyama Compound.
And, Mr PHIRI said only the legitimate owners of the properties will be compensated.
Meanwhile, Zambia National Service -ZNS- Chief of Land Development Branch Brigadier General JEPHAN MUKANDA said the service has made progress in the construction of the drainage in Kanyama.
