“HH initiated Mining Insaka”

Mines and Minerals Development Minister, PAUL KABUSWE says the first-ever Mining Insaka was initiated following President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s guidance for stakeholders in the sector to collaborate and resolve key issues.
Speaking at the opening of the Mining Insaka, Mr. KABUSWE said several mines, such as KCM and Mopani, have begun increasing production.
He said the target of producing three million tonnes by 2031 will require supportive initiatives, including infrastructure like the Lobito Corridor and a stable energy supply.
At the same event, Lusaka Province Minister SHEAL MULYATA said President HICHILEMA’s leadership has been key in driving investments in the mining sector.
And, Vendata Base Metals Chief Executive Officer CHRIS GRIFFITH, said the relaunch of KCM two months ago, following the resolution of differences with the government, has enabled a push towards achieving 200,000 tonnes of copper production per year.
And , ZHANYAN LI, Chairperson of the Chinese Mining Enterprises Association in Zambia, noted that over 20 Chinese companies, with a combined investment of more than 3 billion U.S. dollars, have created more than 15,000 jobs in Zambia.
Meanwhile, Zambia Chamber of Mines President GODWIN BEENE praised the government for organizing the first-ever Mining Insaka.
