Government has signed TEN contracts for the construction of new Markets and extension of Bus Stations at a cost of K166 million in Four Provinces.
The projects earmarked for construction are in Eastern, Southern, Western and North western provinces.
Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary -Administration, MAAMBO HAAMAUNDU says the contracts for all the earmarked infrastructure projects have been signed, and the construction works are expected to commence soon.
Mr. HAAMAUNDU says it is Government’s desire to modernise Markets and Bus stations in order to provide a conducive environment for the traders and the general public.
He says Government is delighted that once the construction of the targeted Markets and Bus stations is complete, the new infrastructure will create a more conducive trading environment for both marketeers and bus drivers than what existed before.
Mr. HAAMAUNDU said the construction of some of the infrastructure projects have been funded with support of KfW, a German Development Bank.
