First Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly MALUNGO CHISANGANO has reserved ruling on a point order seeking the fate of nine PF members of Parliament whose seats were declared vacant.
The Deputy Speaker was responding to a point of order raised by UPND KATOMBORA Member of Parliament CLEMENT ANDELEKI who wanted the interpretation of the fate of the nine expelled PF Members of Parliament.
This is after the Constitutional Court’s ruling that bye-elections must be held within 90 days after notification of a vacancy in local government and Parliamentary seats.
The seats for the nine PF Members of Parliament were declared vacant by Second Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly MOSES MOYO in July 2024.
This was after CHOMA Central Member of Parliament CORNELIUS MWEETWA, raised a point of order that the nine MPs ceased to hold themselves in their positions after being expelled by their party.
