Central Province Football players awarded

Copper Princesses striker LWENDO HANONGO has swept the women’s top awards at the Football Association of ZAMBIA Central Province 2023-2024 football awards.

HANONGO who is currently with the under 17 women’s team at the ongoing FIFA Under 17 world cup ran away with the top scorers and most outstanding female player awards.

HANONGO’s team Driven Queens were also the provincial champions in women’s AFRISEED League .

Other big winners were PAUL CHIBAMBO and ESIQ MALIKONI who were the men’s joint top scorers with 21 goals apiece.

GEORGE MWANSA of AIRPOWER, scoping the best goal keeper award.

GIFT NAKALULMBI picked up the women’s best goal keeper award ,while JULIUS KASONGO of Driven Queens won best coach.

FAZ National league outfit Mine United won the best men team, with MAXWELL MUTIMBA won best.

And Central Province Minister MWABASHIKE NKULUKUSA praised FAZ provincial team for ensuring that football is growing in all districts in the province.

The Minister said this in a speech read on his behalf by Provincial Head of Procurement MICHAEL GONDWE.

And FAZ Central Province Chairman province CHISENGA PULE said his team is looking for sponsors to back the provincial league after they managed to secure sponsorship from AFRISEED for the women’s league.

And AFRISEED Sales Manager TASHA MWANSA said his firm will explore other ventures of cooperation with the provincial football leadership as they have shown commitment to developing football in the region.
