“Ethanol,gasoline blending can save Zambia money”
Sunbird Bioenergy Zambia Chief Executive Officer, RICHARD BENNETT says Zambia could save up to 20 percent on its total petroleum imports if the ethanol and gasoline blending project by Sunbird Bioenergy Zambia in Kawambwa is fully implemented.
Mr. BENNETT says by blending locally produced ethanol made from cassava, the government can lower the importation costs of petroleum.
He told ZANIS in Mansa that the Sunbird project could help the country save money that could otherwise be spent on fuel imports by 20 percent, which is nearly 100 million dollars .
Meanwhile, Mr. BENNETT revealed that Sunbird Bioenergy Zambia has signed a memorandum of understanding with TAZAMA to work together in various areas as the project moves forward.
