UPND toasts victory in Kawambwa Council chairperson by-election

The UPND says the party’s victory in the Kawambwa Council chairperson by election is a sign of the growing popularity of the ruling party in Luapula Province.
Sports, Youth and Arts Minister ELVIS NKANDU who was one of the leading voices to woo support for the UPND candidate in the by-election says the ruling party is aware of the many challenges facing the people in Kawambwa District as well as Luapula Province and something is being done about it.
Speaking after the party’s victory of the Kawambwa Council chairperson position in Kawambwa District, Mr NKANDU warned the Socialist Party’s President Dr Fred Mmembe to stop his behavior of announcing election results before counting is done as that has potential to cause confusion in the country.
Transport Minister FRANK TAYALI described the recent Kawambwa Council chairperson by election as a symbol of the growing democratic space in the country under the New Dawn government.
Science and Technology Minister FELIX MUTATI has also praised the victory of the party in the by Kawambwa Council chairperson by election and thanked the people of Kawambwa for voting peacefully.
And Small and medium Enterprise minister ELIAS MUBANGA says the ruling party’s penetration of the Northern circuit is something to be proud of and shows that the people in Luapula province have accepted the party’s agenda to develop the country.
Meanwhile, the Socialist Party’s Mobilisation Secretary KELVIN KAUNDA says the Socialist Party remains the most organized opposition in the country and has given the ruling UPND a tough time.
Mr KAUNDA alleges that the Socialist Party did win the Kawambwa Council chairperson by election.
