The Electoral Reforms Technical Committee has expressed optimism that the review of electoral reforms being undertaken will reflect the diverse aspirations and needs of Zambians.
Committee Chairperson, RABSON CHONGO says the committee has already undertaken a desk review of the current electoral laws and is now in consultation.
Mr CHONGO says the committee has so far received submissions from various stakeholders in the nine provinces and is now conducting the three day public sitting in Lusaka.
He says the purpose of the public sitting on the review of the electoral law is aimed at making the process more efficient, transparent and inclusive.
Mr. CHONGO said this when he officially opened the public sittings in Lusaka.
And, Provincial Electoral Officer CHARLSTONE HAMULYATA said the public sittings are a platform for open and transparent dialogue as it will shape the future of the country’s electoral process.
