Esther Lungu denied leave to appeal
Former First Lady ESTHER LUNGU has been denied leave to appeal against the Economic and Financial Crimes Court’s order of forfeiture of her properties deemed to be proceeds of crime.
The properties in question are 15 double storey flats situated in PALABANA area of CHONGWE district of LUSAKA Province.
However, the Economic and Financial Crimes Court said Mrs. LUNGU has not advanced any compelling reasons to warrant granting her leave to appeal.
The ruling has been delivered by Judges PIXIE YANGAILO, IAN MABBOLOBBOLO and VINCENT SILOKA .
Reading the ruling Justice YANGAILO, also noted that Mrs. LUNGU’s appeal has no prospect of succeeding.
The judgment was delivered following the application by Director of Public Prosecutions GIBERT PHIRI.
