Former Director nearly fought with former PS Stardy Mwale

A former Ministry of Defence Procurement Director has testified that he almost fought with former Permanent Secretary STARDY MWALE over the contract for modern defence equipment.
CHARLES LUNGU testified that he nearly had a physical confrontation in 2019 after an altercation over the content of the contract.
Mr. LUNGU said he was provoked and sought to fight with Mr. MWALE on grounds that he allegedly verbally attacked him, when he expressed dissatisfaction over the manner the contract was crafted.
He also testified that the contract for modern defence equipment with ELBIT Systems of ISRAEL had a lot of amendments.
Mr. LUNGU was testifying before LUSAKA Chief Resident Magistrate DAVIES CHIBWILI in a matter where Mr. MWALE is charged with corruption involving 573 million dollars for the procurement of the Gulfstream G650 Presidential Jet.
Mr. MWALE is accused of failure to comply with procedure in the procurement of a Gulf Stream Presidential Jet from ELBIT Systems of ISRAEL.
The matter has been adjourned to November 19, 2024.
