Vice President warns: Corruption has consequences
By Hannock Kasama
Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO has warned ZAMBIANS from various walks of life to desist from engaging in corruption or face the wrath of the law.
Mrs. NALUMANGO says the UPND administration is still determined to prosecute any perpetrator of corruption as a deterrent measure.
She has dispelled reports that the UPND administration has lost momentum in the fight against corruption on account that some investigations in some corruption allegations are taking long.
Mrs. NALUMANGO says not all corruption cases end up in court for prosecution unless there is compelling evidence.
She said this in the National Assembly today during the Vice President’s Question Time in accordance with Standing Order Number 87, clause one of 2024.
Mrs. NALUMANGO was responding to LUNTE Member of Parliament MUTOTWE KAFWAYA and his NALOLO counterpart IMANGA WAMUNYIMA.
Mr. KAFWAYA alleged that the UPND administration has lost momentum in the fight against corruption as the Anti-corruption Commission -ACC- and the Auditor General’s Office have no substantive Chief Executive Officers.
On the other hand Mr. WAMUNYIMA claimed that alleged corruption investigations against former Ministry of Health Secretary GEORGE MAGWENDE have taken more than two years.
