GBM loses bail bid again
By Hannock Kasama
Former Defence Minister GEOFFREY MWAMBA has again lost the bid for bail pending appeal following his five year imprisonment with hard labour.
The Lusaka High Court has thrown out his bail application appeal against the Lusaka Magistrates courts’ verdict.
The Court has ruled that Mr. MWAMBA cannot be granted bail as he has no prospects of succeeding in appeal against his conviction for possession of properties deemed to be proceeds of crime
The judgment has been delivered by Judges ANNIE ONONUJU, VINCENT SILOKA and IAN MABOLOBOLO.
Earlier on October 23, 2024, Lusaka Principal Resident Magistrate SANFORD NGOBOLA threw out Mr. MWAMBA’s bail application, underlining that his pending appeal has a slim chance of success.
Magistrate NGOBOLA also ruled that Mr. MWAMBA’s application has fallen short of the threshold for admission to bail pending appeal.
